Arvada Churches Come Together to Feed Neighbors in Need

On Saturday July 16, five Arvada church congregations came together to gather food and supplies to help community members in need. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Arvada, Arvada United Methodist Church, King of Glory Lutheran Church, Simpson United Methodist Church, and the Arvada Baha’i Community worked together to plan and execute a food drive to benefit Community Table Arvada.

Members of all of the churches, including three young members of Boy Scouts of America, gathered in the parking lot of one of the Church buildings in Arvada and collected 50 loads of food and supplies from community members over the course of three hours. A truck from Community Table was on site to receive donations, and volunteers worked hard to carry and stack all of the boxes!

The mission of Community Table is to create a community in which people have access to food and resources to foster self-sufficiency. Through various programs  Community Table strives to improve the quality of life for hungry families and children in and around Arvada. It is through unwavering support of the community that the organization has been able to provide food to those in need for more than three decades – a legacy which Community Table strives to continue.
