Boulder Stake Connects People to Their Past at Family Discovery Day

The more someone explores their family history, the more they truly understand who they are.

That was the core of a recent community event in Boulder called Family Discovery Day. It’s an annual genealogy-focused workshop sponsored by the Boulder Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Attendees were able to learn about several different aspects of family history including technology training, photo digitization and DNA learning.

In describing the event, the Boulder Stake billed it as a day that would “help individuals across our community connect with their heritage and discover family stories by providing engaging activities for all ages, strengthening family bonds and fostering a sense of belonging through shared ancestry.”

Family Discovery Day featured 15 interactive booths and exhibits staffed by family history experts who could help connect people with their past, present and future generations.

Between learning how best to scan family photos or how to record oral histories, the event provided valuable information that helped attendees discover new ancestors and preserve their family history.

The fun event was completely free and was open to all ages. If you missed the event this year, make sure to watch for it again next spring!
