“Messiah” Sing-Along Unites Different Faiths, Benefits Denver Nonprofit
By Corey Christiansen, Denver Region Media Specialist
No Christmas season would be complete without raising your voice heavenward as part of the “Hallelujah Chorus” in Handel’s “Messiah.”
The Denver Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints partnered with Hope United Methodist Church in Greenwood Village to provide a spectacular interfaith performance of the famous oratorio. This was the 10th annual “Messiah” Sing-Along that featured a full orchestra, choir and soloists.
Performers represented several different faiths as did members of the audience. Together, they all blended their voices into a magnificent unified worship of the Savior and of His divine mission to save mankind.
In addition to the inspiring musical event, the sing-along also raised $2,400 for Village Resource Center, a nonprofit that assists individuals and families who are struggling to make housing payments in the Denver metro area.
What a fantastic way to #UpliftColorado!
