High School Seniors in Brighton Colorado Honor Their Teachers
On April 21st, 92 people gathered together at a local meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to honor education and the impact that a good teacher has on the life of a good student.
Educators from Riverdale Ridge, Brighton High, Landmark Academy, Eagle Ridge Academy, Quist Middle School, Prairie View High School, CO Early Colleges, Vikan Middle School, and Ft. Lupton High School were in attendance and acknowledged by their graduating students.
Dr. Chris Fiedler, 27J Schools Superintendent was the keynote speaker.
Stake President of the local stake of the church, Jeremy Leavitt, stated in his closing remarks:
We also recognize that teachers today fill roles for their students that reach above and beyond traditional teaching expectations…often this equates to not only being an instructor and master of your trade, but also a counselor, a nurturer, and a personal friend. Far too often you are undervalued, under appreciated and we all know you are far too under paid for the extreme good that you provide back to our society. You wanted to have an impact in the neighborhood and cities for which you live. While this event tonight cannot adequately express our appreciation for what you do day after day, month after month and year after year for our children, we hope that in some small way you were able to catch a glimpse of the good that you do provide.
