Brighton Youth Collect 6,000 Pounds of Food for Community
By Corey Christiansen, Denver Region Media Specialist
Teens and pre-teens made a huge difference in the Brighton community by collecting an incredible 6,000 pounds of food as part of a community food drive.
The youth collected canned and non-perishable foods from their schools, their family and friends and even by going door-to-door and collecting food from their neighbors.
This amazing act of service fits right into the 2024 church youth theme of “I am a Disciple of Jesus Christ” by giving the youth an opportunity to bless God’s children and serve others as Christ’s disciples would.
Brighton Stake Assistant Communication Director Allie Shortt said, “We love seeing the rising generation being leaders in the community. They are examples of Christ-like charity to their peers and those in their circle of influence.”
In total, the entire Brighton community gathered about 10,000 pounds for the food drive. The food was distributed to five charitable organizations:
- Fort Lupton Food and Clothing Bank
- Almost Home Inc.
- HCC Food Pantry
- From His Hands
- St. Augustine Food Pantry
Way to go Brighton youth!
