72,980 Volunteer Hours and More Is Needed for Catholic Charities of Denver

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon Church) is encouraging people worldwide to “Light the World” this holiday season by engaging in acts of service. This article about service opportunities with Catholic Charities of Denver is the second in a series that the LDS Church is publishing to highlight local organizations in Colorado that help make the season brighter.

Catholic Charities is the charitable arm of the Archdiocese of Denver. Since 1927, Catholic Charities of Denver has been serving and uplifting Coloradoans in need. The organization reaches tens of thousands of people each year via different core missions that are focused on early childhood education, Marisol Services for Women, shelter, housing, counseling, family, kinship, senior services, and much more.

During the most recent fiscal year, volunteers donated 72,980 hours of time to serve others through Catholic Charities. Yet, despite that heroic effort, much more is needed and can be done to serve the needy in Colorado through the missions of Catholic Charities.

This Christmas season Catholic Charities of Denver has many opportunities to follow the example of the Savior and serve your neighbor. No matter your situation or availability, you can find something that is the right fit for your family.

Opportunities to serve with Catholic Charities stretch across the entire Front Range. You can adopt a family in need for Christmas gifts, or donate food, diapers, and a long list of other needed items. Also, you can volunteer your time to assist as a companion for the elderly, to serve food to the hungry, or to otherwise lift those in the greatest need in our communities.
